SKETCHING
Sketching is the second step to design. To facilitate analysis of the problem at hand, sketching has the capability to get a sense of the next level of problems to be encountered. It is also simply fun to put down your imaginations on paper, and yes, I still love pen and paper however am slowly switching to sketching on a screen. What keeps me on paper is the factor that when a mistake happens you can either try to erase it or adapt the mistake into the imagination. Below are some of my works and snippets from my sketchbooks.
Observational sketching was the first method I learnt to draw by, specifically pencil sketching. Using pencil can be a challenge depending on the pencil, however in the beginning all I had was an Steadler HB Pencil, back when they were red and black with gold imprint, STEADLER.
Pencil is a fantastic way to observe light. Shades of grey can go along way as in this image to the left. I sketched this in an Art class during my time at Tongji. It was an sketching class.

I have since taken a liking to design sketching where I mainly use a 0.7mm quick dry pen. This just looks amazing on paper while at the same time helping convey some ideas to paper. To the left is a bridge project from a Studio class at Santa Monica College. My process has always been to sketch first while slowly working towards the final result.
Below is a preview of my process in sketching with concept designing, putting thoughts to paper.
